Missions Outreach

We believe our faith is meaningless unless we put it into practice. Our mission outreach is an important part of the ministry of Olmsted Community Church–our faith in action.  Our Board of Missions educates and encourages us to become involved in meeting the needs of others, particularly those brothers and sisters who live in poverty.

…and whoever gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones in the name of a disciple—truly I tell you, none of these will lose their reward. –Jesus (Matthew 10:42)

Hands-on mission work takes place in a variety of ways.  We work cooperatively with other churches in sponsoring Christians in Action (CIA), which in turn uses our church as the site for a food pantry for the less fortunate of our community.  Groups have taken part in home building and repair, and the church has put together hundreds of flood kits over the years.  We receive special offerings (such as One Great Hour of Sharing and Neighbors in Need) specifically dedicated to helping others in Christ’s name.

We support mission projects locally, nationally, and internationally, knowing that our caring represents the ministry of Jesus Christ.  We collect canned goods for the food pantry and used cell phones for abused women.  We support needy children in other nations and work with Church Street Ministries in Berea.  We co-sponsor the local Thanksgiving food drive known as the Turkey Hunt and also provide resources for inner city children.

Come join our efforts to make God’s world a place of hope and justice for all God’s people.
